Privacy Policy

How tygress.com and the early-access waitlist handle your data, in plain language. The Tygress gateway itself is pre-release and not distributed yet, so this policy covers only the website and the waitlist.

Last updated

The short version

  • We ask for your email address only when you join the waitlist, and use it only for waitlist emails.
  • PostHog analytics stores a random identifier in a cookie and in local storage. Vercel's analytics are cookieless.
  • We don't sell your personal data, and the site has no advertising trackers.
  • Leave the waitlist with the unsubscribe link in any waitlist email, or email hello@tygress.com to see, correct or delete your data.

Who we are

This website and the early-access waitlist are run by Tygress (“Tygress”, “we”, “us”). We decide how and why the personal data described here is used, and we are responsible for it. Tygress builds a self-hosted API gateway and AI gateway; the gateway is pre-release and not publicly available, so nothing in this policy concerns data processed by the gateway software.

For anything about this policy or your data, email hello@tygress.com.

What we collect and why

If you join the waitlist

The signup form sends us your email address and a short label naming the form you used, such as the homepage or a comparison page. Resend stores your address as a contact on our waitlist, together with whether you are subscribed and when you joined. The form label is attached to the welcome email we send through Resend, so we can see which pages people sign up from.

We use your address to confirm your signup, to tell you when early access opens, and to send occasional development, product and launch updates. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't send it to our analytics provider. Giving it is optional, but we can't add you to the waitlist without it.

Product analytics (PostHog)

PostHog records events across the site so we can see which pages are useful and where the site falls short:

  • pages you view, and when you leave them;
  • on some pages, how far down you scroll and which sections come into view;
  • clicks on navigation, footer and outbound links, on pricing and “What's new” links, and on links and buttons generally, which PostHog captures automatically;
  • opening an FAQ answer, switching configuration tabs, and copying a code sample;
  • viewing, focusing and submitting a waitlist form, and whether the signup succeeded. These events carry the form label, not your email address.

With each event, PostHog records the page address, the referring page, campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source), your browser, operating system, device type and screen size, and the random identifier described under Cookies and local storage. Your IP address reaches PostHog with each request, and PostHog may store it with the event and use it to estimate your approximate location. PostHog's automatic capture does not record what you type into form fields.

These events reach PostHog through n.tygress.com, an address on our own domain that forwards them to PostHog.

Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights

Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies. Vercel describes it as anonymous: it records the page address, the referrer, an approximate location, and your browser, operating system and device type, and instead of a cookie it recognises a visit by a hash of the incoming request, discarded after 24 hours. Speed Insights measures how quickly pages load (Core Web Vitals) along with browser, device, network speed and country, and is likewise not tied to individual visitors. Vercel documents both in its Web Analytics privacy notes (opens in a new tab) and Speed Insights privacy notes (opens in a new tab).

Server and request logs

When you load a page or submit a form, our host, Vercel, processes your IP address, your browser's user agent and the address you requested, as any web server must, and keeps request logs to run and protect the service. Our own signup and unsubscribe code logs errors without your email address. The unsubscribe link in our waitlist emails can contain your email address, so Vercel's request logs may record it when you open that link.

If you email us

We receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them to reply and to act on your request.

Who processes your data

We use these service providers to run the site and the waitlist. They process personal data on our behalf and under their terms with us:

We don't sell your personal data or share it for advertising. We may disclose it if the law requires us to, or where needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Tygress, our users or others.

International transfers

Our providers may process your data in the United States and in other countries outside your own. The site's server code runs in Vercel data centres in the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan, and a request is usually handled by the one nearest you.

Where data from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom goes to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on our providers' transfer mechanisms, such as the standard contractual clauses in their data processing terms. Email us for more information.

How long we keep it

  • Waitlist. We keep your email address while the waitlist runs, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. If you unsubscribe, your address stays on the list marked as unsubscribed, so that we don't email you again; ask us and we will delete it completely. When the waitlist ends, we will delete the addresses on it unless you have agreed to hear from us in another way. If you unsubscribe and later submit the signup form again, we treat that as a new request to join.
  • Email records. Resend keeps records of the emails it sends for us, such as delivery status, for the period its service sets.
  • Analytics. PostHog and Vercel keep analytics data for the retention period that applies to our plan with each provider. Vercel discards the visit hash it uses after 24 hours.
  • Request logs. Kept by Vercel for the log retention period of its service.
  • Emails to us. For as long as we need them to deal with your message.

Cookies and local storage

When a page loads, PostHog stores a random identifier, not your name or email address, in a first-party cookie on tygress.com and in your browser's local storage, and may keep short-lived values in session storage. They let PostHog count returning visitors and group events into visits.

ph_<project token>_posthogCookie
A random identifier and session details, so PostHog can tell a returning browser from a new one and group events into visits.
Set by PostHog · Up to one year
ph_<project token>_posthogLocal storage
The same identifier and details, kept in your browser's local storage.
Set by PostHog · Until you clear it

Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights use no cookies. The site sets no advertising cookies.

You can block or delete cookies and site data for tygress.com in your browser settings; PostHog then can't recognise your browser across visits. A content blocker that blocks analytics requests stops the events from being sent at all. The site works normally either way, including the waitlist form.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it in a portable format;
  • Correct data that is inaccurate;
  • Delete your data, including your waitlist entry;
  • Restrict our use of your data while a concern you have raised is resolved;
  • Object to our use of your data based on legitimate interests, including analytics;
  • Withdraw consent to waitlist emails at any time;
  • Complain to a data protection supervisory authority, such as the one where you live or work. We'd appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

To use any of these rights, email hello@tygress.com, ideally from the address concerned. We may ask you to confirm that the address is yours before acting, and we will reply within the time the law requires. To leave the waitlist, the quickest way is the unsubscribe link in any waitlist email.

Analytics data is linked to the random identifier in your browser, not to your name or email address. To help us find it, include the value of the PostHog cookie described above; to stop analytics going forward, use the browser controls in Cookies and local storage.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS, and the waitlist is stored with Resend rather than on servers we run. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold. If you find a security problem with the site, please email hello@tygress.com.

Children

The site and the waitlist are meant for professionals evaluating infrastructure software. They are not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has joined the waitlist, email us and we will delete the address.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use waitlist email addresses, we will also tell waitlist members by email.
